RETREAT ITINERARY

Purpose
The Heart of Marriage Weekend is designed to equip couples with practical, proven principles for strengthening your marriage.

During the retreat, you will learn how to:

  • Clarify your role as a husband or wife

  • Communicate in the age of social media

  • Protect your family financially

  • Not destroy your marriage

  • Trust your spouse

  • Establish priorities and boundaries

  • Maintain a vital sexual connection

  • Increase your commitment, creating a deeper level of intimacy

Atmosphere
Even though you will sit among many other couples the retreat is designed just for you to enjoy with your spouse.

Format
The format of the weekend combines general sessions facilitated by Rev. Dr. Emory Berry, Jr. & Dr. Julie A. Berry, a special Men Only & Women Only session that they will host, plus the Workshop Sessions that you are able to select using the link above.

To make the most of your weekend, we encourage you to:
Listen carefully during the messages to the overall purpose and plan for marriage, even if you’re not sure you agree with a particular point at first. Many of the concepts and applications become clearer as the weekend progresses.

Think about how you can apply the principles in your own life rather than what you think your spouse needs to learn.

Decide upon at least 2 or 3 action points by the end of the weekend that you and your spouse agree to apply in the next 30 days.

Meals

The retreat includes the following meals.
Friday - Heavy Hors d ’Oeuvres
Saturday - Continental breakfast & lunch buffet
Sunday - Your choice of breakfast or lunch (Be prepared to make your selection at Registration Check-In. Everyone
will receive a ticket based on their selection)

Attire

Friday – “Rep your Hometown/Home State” – (wear something that represents where you grew up).
Saturday morning/afternoon – Comfortable casual clothes. You will be sitting for long periods of time.
WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND bringing a sweater or jacket (air-conditioned rooms or inclement weather).
Saturday evening – Denim  & White (Casual or Chic, it’s up to you) for the Social Activity.
Sunday – Your Choice
Bring exercise clothing and/or swimwear if you’re interested in a stimulating start to your day.

Social Activities

Friday Night – Join us for a night of fun activities including – “Get to Know You” and “That’s My Boo!”
Saturday Date Night – A special part of the weekend! You can either plan to join other couples for “Taco Mac
Takeover” (stop by the Registration table for more info) or plan a special dinner for two (restaurant suggestions are
in your program booklet). After dinner, return to the Crowne Plaza to enjoy a fun-filled evening of learning some of
the latest line dances. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just looking to have some fun, this activity is a great way
to bond, laugh and create wonderful memories with your partner and other couples.
