Selfless That’s a pretty strong list. But as you reflect on these words you can make the case that how husbands love their wives is representative of how we love God. The book “Sacred Marriage” by Gary Thomas poses the question “What if God designed marriage to make us Holy more than to make us happy?” That’s a powerful question and consciously or unconsciously at least these husbands through their one word descriptions of love demonstrate the correlation between loving God and loving our spouse. While these guys provided some great words, we find that the Apostle Paul wrote a beautiful definition of love with multiple words herein 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 “Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.” Speaking of love. Here’s a wonderful way to celebrate your love or rekindle your fading love, it’s the Heart of Marriage Retreat: The Best Is Yet To Come. Join us the weekend of September 15 – 17 at the Evergreen Marriott Conference Center in Stone Mountain Georgia. It will be a weekend that stays with you forever. By the way, by now you’ve noticed there were only 19 words on the list. The 20th is my word that says love… Joy!
